Liver loving pesto

The LIVER: One of the heaviest lifters in the body. Theres a reason why traditional Chinese medicine places so much emphasis on the health of the liver. The liver is one of our main pathways for the elimination of toxins … so if it is getting overloaded (think alcohol, heavy saturated fats, and a lack of nutrients supporting its function)… then the body will look for other ways to eliminate these toxins .... like our SKIN! SO ... if our liver function isn’t optimal our body turns to the pores in our skin to rid itself of these impurities … hence causing breakouts, dryness, flaking, itchiness.
Often overworked and underpaid the liver does more than just detoxify our blood. It is also a key player in regulating fat, balancing our hormones, digestion and circulation.

Try giving your liver some extra love this week with a batch of this Liver Loving Pesto.

Ingredients

🌿Grab a couple of big handfuls of fresh herbs that you love (I like parsley, coriander and a few basil leaves)
🌿3 tbs apple cider vinegar
🌿1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

🌿2 tbs capers
🌿1 x clove peeled garlic

🌿Pinch of salt

🌿Crack of black pepper

🌿Splash of water if needed
🌿Squeeze of lemon juice (optional)

Method

  1. Whizz all this together in a blender or using a handheld blender/food processor.

  2. Serve 1-2 tbsp with each dinner this week. Add on top of fish, meat, use as a dip for vegetable fritters or veggie sticks, water down further and use as a salad dressing.

  3. Your skin will also love the hit of vitamin C from this pesto

  4. Keeps in the fridge for 2-3 days.
