I love a chai latte but most of the ones you buy out are made from a very sugary processed powder. So the benefits are pretty much lost.
I make a jar of this chai mix up so that all I need to do is add a couple of teaspoons to some heated soy/coconut/almond milk. Delicious!

Ingredients

Play with the flavours you like but here is the basis of what I use:

In a jar add equal parts (e.g 3-5tsp):
- ground ginger
- ground cinnamon - ground white pepper
- ground cardamom.
Then add a sprinkle of black peppercorns, a dash of turmeric, a couple of star anise, a couple of whole cloves and a crack of black pepper.

Method

  1. Add about 1-2 teaspoons of the mix to your choice of milk in a saucepan and heat.

  2. Let simmer for about 3-4 mins, and strain before drinking

Herbs and spices are something we use all the time in clinic for so many reasons. They are great for weight loss as they add loads of flavour and can replace other things like sugar & salt. Their flavour explosion tells your brain you are more satisfied without adding extra sugar and salt. Try a herb loaded pesto on your eggs, or fish. They also help regulate blood sugar (cinnamon), support the liver with detoxification (fresh coriander) and they are potent with phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals (favourites are fresh parsley, ground turmeric, and black pepper).

Simply. Nourish. Enjoy.
